Boston does not recycle

Yup It's true. Recycling is not required by law in Boston.

I regret to confirm that Boston’s recycling program is not mandatory.

The Mayor has had success in increasing recycling with the big blue carts.

Mandatory recycling has been considered. The challenge is the enforcement of a mandatory recycling ordinance.

However if their trash is a mess, you may call Code Enforcement at 617-635-4896.
